My dads original Sea Pro 2100 now belongs to my uncle. It has the original 2003 Yamaha 150, Z150TXRB. It has recently started alarming as soon as he presses on the throttle. He is working thru the possible causes. However, he wants to look into connecting it to his new Hummingbird to get the engine data on the Hummingbird. Im pretty sure its pre command link. Anyone done this on a motor of this era? What does he need to buy and how does he connect it up?
Thanks!

I'm thinking you'd have to get NMEA2000 sensors for the motor and set up a network for it to work. Not sure what that would cost..

It's only possible with a device that will convert the signals to nmea 2000. from what I've seen it's complicated and not worth the effort. Best to get a YDS diagnostic kit to read the codes and figure out the problem, most alarms are over temp or an oil problem.

Couldn't do that with my old 04 Yamaha F150 either.. but it could read the codes via a cable and a laptop.

Just came on here to see if anyone has had exhaust plate corrosion issues with older Yamaha 150s. Mine’s a 2005 and my mechanic can’t get water flowing through the system... did a little research and it sounds like these motors from 2002-2006ish have a manufacturer defect in the exhaust plate...apparently it’s not if but when this plate will spring a leak, allowing water into the exhaust system. My guy’s almost definitely going to have to remove the power head just to inspect the plate. Really not happy about this... It could explain your temp alarm since the cooling system is leaking...
