Hey all, We went to take the boat out today and she wouldn't start. 2018 208 bay, Suzi 150. I just had her out 2 weeks ago. The batteries were good, 12.6 on each. Maybe a little low, but enough to crank. The trim switch on the side of the motor works, bilge pump works, wash down and bait well pumps work. I know the batteries should be good enough to crack. When I hit the key, I get a little chirp, then nothing. If I try the trim switch on the shifter, it tries, then quits. The Suzuki screen doesn't light up. It really feels like a corrosion or continuity issue. The power just is not getting to the motor. I cleaned the terminals on the battery, which I also cleaned a few weeks ago as I got her ready for the summer. I can see a fair amount of corrosion on the negative terminal at the rear of the battery compartment. I did not have enough tools with me to take this connection apart for cleaning. It looks like the battery cables connect to these terminals before going to the motor. Can this corrosion on the negative terminal be the problem, or should I be looking elsewhere. If anyone has a wiring diagram for the starting circuit, it would be much appreciated.

The corrosion is more than likely your problem.

Yeah, it sounds like a bad ground. clean it up good and hit it with some corrosion-x or dielectric grease or something similar.

I got down to the boat today to clean up the terminals. Everything looks good. Still no start. There is a white wire on one of the terminal posts that runs between the batteries and motor. I couldn’t see exactly, but it looks like it goes into a harness near the computer. I did not have good continuity on this wire. Does anyone know what it does?

I'm guessing the shifter is in neutral and the safety lanyard is in place?

Do your console lights get dim when you try to crank it? 12.6 volts is a little low for a fully charged battery but as you said, should still turn over the starter but just because you have enough voltage, it doesn't mean the battery is good and you have the amperage needed to crank the motor... Try connecting a set of jumper cables from your vehicle or from a known good battery to the battery terminals on your start battery. Then if it cranks, you know the problem was either a bad battery or poor connection at a battery post. If it doesn't crank, then it could be the contacts in the key switch, but I'm betting it's the battery.

Got her cranked tonight in time for memorial weekend. It was the white wire, green corrosion got to it. In other forums it seams that this is a common problem with Suzuki’s. Now I know I need to maintain the terminals behind the batteries.

Good to hear you got it fixed! I've never noticed a white wire on mine but after this I'll be looking for it.
