Well it was a surprise when I complained about a button sticking on my FF, the Admiral suggested that it was time to buy a new one. So I don't let the iron cool down, I need to act fairly soon. I talked to a coworker who mentioned he had hired a guide that had a FF that you could see the fish swimming around and they looked like fish, not humps. Anyone know what he's talking about?

Garmin LiveScope and Lowrance ActiveTarget are the two most popular 3D transducers right now. I am installing a Garmin EchoMap UHD 93SV (Helm) & 73SV (Bow) this weekend. Both have Ultra High-Definition ClearVü and SideVü scanning which is big step up from traditional sonar then I am adding the LiveScope transducer later when I replace my trolling motor.
It can be very intimidating trying to shop for new electronics. Eventually I had to just decide how much I really could spend. I decided that last years models on sale would suit me just fine and left me a little $$$ for LiveScope transducer.

Garmin LiveScope and Lowrance ActiveTarget are the two most popular 3D transducers right now. and even with LiveScope or ActiveTarget the fish still don't look like real fish. I suspect the guy is exaggerating or he turned on the Fish ID which displays signals with a fish icon instead of the arches. That said, the fish icons might look better but the arches are more accurate. I know you occasionally fish the panhandle so you might consider the Lowrance Elite FS model. It's an upgrade to the Elite Ti2 and will run the optional FMT (Florida Marine Tracks). With that chip, the screen detail looks like Google Earth and it shows safe tracks to just about everywhere on the water on Florida.

Yeah, the guy that I was talking to probably doesn't have much experience, but the guide sure impressed him.

Two Labradors will do that, given enough water and not enough structure to pee on....
