So I blew out two of my four trailer tires this weekend on a 120 mile trip one way and then blew one more out on my way home. I bought them all four at the same time in 2019 and haven't put that many miles on them since I used to leave it at my grandpas house so I didn't need to trailer it to his house like I did this weekend. I have an sv2100 on a tandem axle trailer and I'm running 13in tires they were power kings and I know now that they were made in china. My question is now that I'm making this trip more often do I need to upsize my wheels to a 14 so I can get a higher rated tire or should I just buy some better tires and keep with the 13's? Thanks for the help fellas. Drew

I have no brakes to seize up and my hubs are all greased good and were not hot upon arrival. I checked them when I made it to town.

How long was it sitting up? Was the trailer stored in the sun? Could the tires have been dry rotted or wrong pressure? 3 blown tires is really strange. I have the same boat and tandem trailer and I believe all four of my tires are some kind of "King" trailer tires. I've towed mine as far as 1600 miles (round trip) without issue and I tow it 140 - 180 miles almost weekly. I think I've had a total of three blow outs in the past 10 years and two of those were my fault due to overinflating. Mine are also 13" wheels and I considered going to 14" but couldn't find any 14" wheels that would fit without hitting the fenders so if you do go with larger wheels, expects to raise your fenders higher. Get the highest rated 13" you can find and you'll be fine.

I've never had problems like this before so I'm not sure what the problem is but no it wasn't stored in the sun it sat up for a couple months at a time but the tires didn't look dry rotted at all and the tread was like new with no uneven wear. I was looking at my fenders in relation to my current tires and I have quite a bit of room between the tires and them. Would you be rubbing with the 14 or are you just worried they will bottom out if you hit a big bump or something?

Would you be rubbing with the 14 or are you just worried they will bottom out if you hit a big bump or something? My other boat has 14" wheels on that trailer so before ordering new 14" mag wheels I took the 14's off and tried to mount them on the Sea Pro trailer. I think there might have been enough clearance between the tires but they wouldn't fit under the fenders. You could always modify and raise the fenders but I wasn't willing to do that. I really couldn't see much advantage to larger wheels anyway and since they will raise the trailer, you might also need to back further into the water when launching.

I get what your saying Juan, thanks for the info guys. So what tires do you guys recommend? Think I just got a few bad ones or should I look into a particular brand?

I can't really speak on why 3 tires blew out. Were the pressure at max cold? But on the topic of where the tire is manufactured. As far as I know the only trailer tire that is manufactured in the USA is the goodyear endurance trailer tire. All other trailer tires are produced overseas. (as far as I know based on my research)
Also goodyear endurance tires have a higher speed rating than other trailer tires as well... All that being said they only make them in 14 inch rims and up.....

good luck finding goodyear enduance 14's right now they are on national backorder until february 2022. The Gadsden Alabama plant that made them closed permanetly march 2020 because of covid. They make them in Fayettville north carolina now and must be way behind.
