Picked up a CE Smith stainless t-top over the weekend to install on my '05 SV1900. My questions are how thick is the deck at the front and rear sides of the console, is it a sandwiched structure and how thick is it? Also is there anything solid such as stringers or critical under the outside of the console and should I avoid those if they are there or use them as additional support by screwing into them. Also what are the preferred fasteners. I'd rather ask anyone who has done this rather than go boring holes willy-nilly to see what I can hit. Thanks!

The deck is fairly thick. I put my leaning post in with screws and 5200 and it has held up well. I would recommend a stainless thru fastener that grabs from the bottom if you aren't a gambler like myself.

I'm guessing the fuel tank on a 1900 is in the same area as it is on a 2100. You need to be sure you're not screwing into the fuel tank. My T-top mounted at the base of the console and is heavier than most (and that may be one reason it's never budged an inch). It's also got six legs mounted to the deck with five screws in each base plate where I think most have only four. Use as large a screw that will fit in the base plates and lots of 5200 under each base plate and it will never move.
