“If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.” ― Mae West
I need to install a power winch on my boat trailer. The boat is 21’ and weighs 4250 lbs. fully loaded with full tank. The trailer is a roller trailer and the tow vehicle is a 4Runner. I am looking at the Fulton XLT 10 which is rated for 10,000 lbs. I plan on wiring it to the vehicle battery.
Is this winch overkill for this application. I’d rather err on the too much rather than too little power side but also don’t want to waste cash that could be used on other age enhancement modifications. Any comments on quality of the winch? thanks

Those Fulton winches are rated on maximum recommended boat weight, not actual pulling weight. So yeah, that's a bit overkill. I'd go with a XLT 7 and that is still a little overkill.
