I've finished installing my T-top and getting it wired up so on to the next project, a new swim ladder. The old one needs to go and a new one installed, my question is has anyone done this and what's the best way to get at the interior nuts? Seems my choices are to cut a hole in the splash well or go thru the back of the port well (fish box in my case). In either case it appears to be a PIA. Your thoughts and recommendations please. Thanks.

What model hull are you working with gtinga? Also, does your fish box have an access hole for any drain lines, or fill lines? Just thinking. Is there any room inside the bilge area to work with?

Forgot to mention, it's an 05 SV1900. Access from the bilge would be one of those "down, around a 125 degree turn and up about 3 feet" deals, I'll look again in the morning but I think it's just a bit to much. The ones I'm concerned about are the top ones, I've thought about using toggle nuts but the only ones I can find in stainless are stamped and only have about 2 threads bite.

I'm guessing the swim platform on your SV1900 is identical to the one on my SV2100. If that's the case, the top two brackets bolt through above the livewell so if you cut holes in the livewell to access the nuts, you'd have to go up and still might not be able to reach the nuts. IMO the easiest way would be toggle bolts but they'd have to be big ones to support the weight that will be put on the swim platform and I'm not sure I'd trust toggles. If it were mine, I'd cut two 2" holes in the gunnel above the livewell to access the nuts and then plug the holes with plastic plugs.

Just checked the locations of my top bolts, they're about even with the deck so there would be some thru and up work required, not fun but I think do-able. I'm also looking at toggle bolts by "Toggler" their 1/4x20 bolts are rated at over 1,000 lbs thru solid material. Problem is they only sell them in units of 50/100, looking for a source for fewer now. Lowes carries them but not in stainless.

OK, found the stainless togglers at McMaster-Carr, ordered 4 of them evening of the 30th, just got them an hour ago, 1:00 PM. I'll use two on the top and save the others for spares.

Update on the togglers, They work great under some conditions, not so in others. If both sides of the structure, in my case the hull, are parallel they are a joy to use, just drill, slide the toggler through and gently tighten the retaining ring and it's ready for the bolt/screw. If the back of the structure is more than a few degrees off of parallel to the front best go to plan "B". In my case the front and back of the hull closest to the centerline were parallel and the toggler installed with no problems. The other hole ended up going thru an area where the hull transitioned from 2.5" thick to 1.5" and they simply wouldn't line up such that the threaded portion was 90 degrees to the hole/outside surface. For this one I ended up cutting a 4" hole thru the aft port compartment and using a bolt/backing plate and lock nut.

I noticed You mounted a swim platform with a left amd right handrail on a transom with an outboard. Typically single outboards would have one grab rail. Does it get in the way with the motor? I have a 220wa and would prefer both handles.

I have a 220wa and would prefer both handles. I have both handles on my swim step and it doesn't get in the way of the outboard, 220CC.

Thx. I saw one new in box for $40. I’ll pick it up and give it a go. I’ll fabricate some sort of a reacher/holder for backer plate and bolt. Removing the rod holder coaming box should give me access to the outer fastener. Towards the motor looks like an awkward reach from the sump access panel. It’s a shame the live wells are not removable.
