While I haven't gone yet (still in maintenance mode), I heard from some good sources (with pictures) that the stripers and hybrids are already biting pretty good in the hooch in swift water. This is very early. Usually, it is an end of February to end of March thing.

That's sum good info! Thanks. It is early, I've always used the dogwood blooms as an indicator that it's time to hit the river again. I'll have to check it out when the morning temperatures rise a bit more than they've been lately.

They haven't made it this far south yet. I hit three of my best hootch spots today and didn't get a single hit. Nothing, Nada, Zilch! The water was 52 degrees and looked great but the fish just weren't there. I should have known better since I was the only boat at the ramp all day.

The last 2 days of massive rain has muddied the waters to an unfishable degree. I hope others are catching them.

Same conditions here. Too much rain to fish or plant but the coming week is looking better.

The rains let up enough to hit the Hootch again last Friday. Caught 3 small largemouth and 5 hybrids also small. What's up with that? Usually the bigger ones are here this time of year. Kept them and released them in my pond hoping they will feast on the shad. Got more heavy rain over the weekend.
