I was looking at ways to save money on fuel and realized there must be a way to write off the fuel tax that I pay on fuel that I don't use on the highway. I estimate I use about 300 gallons a year between the boats, mowers, atv's , chainsaws, etc. I found a federal form 4136 but it strictly prohibits personal use. However I did find a Georgia form that allows for personal use as long as you buy 25 gallons at a time. It can be found here: dor.georgia.gov/mfr-44-application-refund-non-highway-clear-dieselgasoline It will only save me 7.5 cents a gallon (approximately $23/year) but some of you might use significantly more fuel than I, or your state may have a higer tax rate that may make it more attractive. If you have a business that uses taxed fuel for non highway use, you can also write off the federal tax which is between 19-25 cents a gallon, although you have to jump through a few more hoops by using a particular type of credit card and such.

In an attempt to save money on fuel I almost ordered an Eco Economy Fuel Saver OBD OBDⅡ but after reading the reviews I haven't (yet). Anyone tried this or is it a total scam?
