Hi all, just purchased our very first Sea-Pro, a 1999 210CC. This boat has never had a trolling motor installed on it and would like to know (1) pros and cons of Minn Kota vs Motor Guide, as well as rail modifications made by others to allow for deploying a trolling motor on this boat. I have seen an older thread where modifications were made by bending the rail (?) but cannot find the pictures. Looking forward to your suggestions!!

Freezerfiller has the same boat and I believe a trolling motor, I'm sure he'll chime in with some suggestions. Welcome aboard and congrats on your new to you Sea Pro.

Just purchased my first Sea Pro, a 2003 180cc, as well. Also interested in what rail modifications might be needed to install a trolling motor, in addition to what pounds of thrust I should be looking for and shaft length.

I got the 24v 80# thrust 60" shaft length for mine and it pushes it around fine in 2 ft seas or less. any more and it cavitates too badly to use. I think it would be fine for a 180, but I don't know how much closer your bow rail is to your bow than mine. I had to heat mine up and pry it up about an inch and a half for me to deploy the tm. You can search my posts from about 11 years ago and see how I did mine.
