I own a 2007 Sea Pro 206cc. I am in San Diego and average 700 hours a year on my boat. I bought a new Mercury 150 4 stroke last November. I have 325 hours on the engine. Over the past 3 months I started smelling fuel inside the center console. The worst comes when I fuel the boat. I have been keeping the door to the center console open to vent the fuel smell. i don't have any fuel in the bilge. The business that I purchased and had the new engine installed said I need a new fuel tank. I would like to avoid spending $5,000.00 on a new fuel tank unless that is my only option. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

If you're lucky, the fuel sending unit gasket in top of the tank is bad and leaking. That happens a lot and because it's on top of the tank you wouldn't get fuel in the bilge but you would smell it especially when refueling or in rough seas.
