Nice! I'm jealous. Temps here have been in the 3 digits for the past couple of weeks and as bad as I want to go, I'm just too old and lazy for 100 plus temps but next week is looking promising. How big do those suckers get?

They can get up over 10 pounds but that's pretty rare. Average size is 2-4 pounds, and 17-22" or so. The state record for Ohio is a 16 pound 3 ounce 33" one.
The walleye fishing on Lake Erie is fantastic now. Three record hatches the last several years. There are a bunch of fish an inch under the limit that will be great eaters next season.

Thats a beauty. I've always wanted to catch a walleye.

Caught some nice hybrids today and one small striper on the Hootch today. Beautiful day to be outside! Do you keep or eat any? If I keep any, I put them in my pond to eat the shad and bream. I haven't kept one to eat in years. They sure are fun to catch. The boat is behind the truck now and I'll be going tomorrow. I've been floating 12 or 15 jugs while I'm casting for hybrids and stripes and have been catching some nice cats too. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow.

I launched the boat at 0600 this morning and was headed home at 0830. Caught 9 hybrids, 3 largemouth bass, and 7 catfish all in less than 2 hours. Lost the biggest largemouth bass I've ever hooked when he jumped unexpectedly when I was trying to net him. One catfish weighed probably 40 lbs. I had to fold him in half to get him in the live well. Best day at the river I've had in a long time!

That's a pretty exciting 2 hours. Congratulations!
The fishes aren't wary of that orange net mesh? Looks kind of Auburn-colored to me.
Aiyeeeeee!

Yes, I kept 5 hybrids. I found that if I fillet them on the skin side in between two 1/8" strips of wood, the results are fantastic. In other words, I leave an 1/8" of meat on the skin. that is the red meat, and the white textured stuff that makes it less desirable. Try it, and you can't tell it's not a largemouth.

I don't eat largemouths either. When I kept hybrids, I'd just cut out the red bloodline and deep fry or blacken them. They were great but lately I've heard you shouldn't eat anything out of the Chattahoochee.
