Hey everyone, I've been going over my recent purchase of a 1999 Sea Pro 190 and she's in great shape overall. I believe the gas tank has either been worked on or been replaced. Looks like the floor under the console has been cut open and a metal tank is now under there. Does anyone know what type of tank Sea Pro used in 1999? I know I am going to have to fix the floor because whoever cut open the floor just placed a metal sheet over it and stuck some wood 2x4s underneath to support it. The metal cover is just large enough, so you have to remove the console in order to remove the metal cover. In the picture you can see the wood bracing. The big pipe is a run through for wiring and the smaller tube is the old gas line. They ran the new gas line down the center of the boat coming up out of the bilge area. Tks for any help you can provide.

The tank in my 2007 was made by RDS, if there's no label on the tank you might give them a call and ask if they did sea pro tanks in 1999. They might have some info on record. rdsaluminum.com/contact-rds.html

Thanks for the reply's and information. Ill look into that. I think the safe bet is to remove the console and take a look at the tank, than fix the the floor the right way.

There should be an inspection plate in the center of the boat that allows you to see the fuel pickup. My 2000 is Aluminum.

Hey everyone, So, after removing the console and some cleaning. I was able to get a better look at the tank. Could not find any markings to identify the maker. The tank and all connections look fine. There is enough space behind the tank to see down to the bottom, and it is clean and no signs of fuel leaks. However, I cannot tell if this tank has been replaced or if they just needed to get to all the different hoses. I removed the wood bracing someone had installed and will use Starboard to make clamps to hold the tank in place. I will also use 1/2-inch Starboard to fix the area that was cut out over the tank and add an access hatch. Looking for some advice: I was looking to add a shelf under the console to place my main battery on. Wondering if this is a good idea with the fuel tank being located under the console like it is. The battery is a 31 group, AGM. Along with the battery, I would also locate the main battery shutoff switch, NOCO 3-Bank 15-Amp Onboard Battery Charger, and rewire everything through a safety hub. Is this a good idea, or should I place my battery in the back area of the boat?

Why do you want to move the battery? Is it a weight issue? Moving the battery to a location over the fuel tank is a bad idea imo, and putting it on a shelf is an even worse idea. Doing so could risk damage to the battery and / or the fuel tank. If you do it, you should stick to a sealed battery and never buy another lead acid battery since a spill or leak can do serious damage to that metal tank. If weight is your only concern why not leave it where it is at the stern and buy a lighter or lithium battery or move it to the bow?

Juan, I am looking to move the main battery because I plan to add two more deep cycle batteries to the stern for a trolling motor later on. Three battery's is a tight squeeze in the battery compartment of this 190. Also a lot of extra weight. I do plan on using 1/2-inch Starboard to fix the floor that was cut out over the tank.

Got it. I'd put the trolling motor batteries either under the console or in a bow compartment. I don't think you want that added weight at the stern.
