OK gents, need some ideas. I installed a T-top on my '05 SV 1900 which pretty much took the console rod holders out of their intended role. I can use one for a landing net but what do you do with the rest? Thanks.

I have the same problem after installing my T-top on a 09 SV 1900. Like stated above, landing net and misc. fishing tools. But I have been thinking that I may be able to boil a piece of pvc tube to a 45 degree angle and slip it into the rod holder to make them function as intended. The only problem that I can visualize is the rods may slightly block passage between the console and the gunwale?

Never heard it called that before. Mine must be generic because it sure didn't cost $150. We just call it the 'Fish Lip Grabber'

Never heard it called that before. Mine must be generic because it sure didn't cost $150. We just call it the 'Fish Lip Grabber' Mine has the 60 lb scale and sells for closer to $250. I have a couple of the generic models and they work just as good and NO way would I ever pay $250 for a fish grabber. I'm too cheap. Believe it or not, I snagged mine off the bottom with a crankbait. It must have been there for years. It was completely covered in algae but since they don't rust, it cleaned up like a new one. My rods still fit the console rod holders but just barely and only because they line up with the hard top and not the wider canvas part of the T top. If extending your rod holders out 4 inches would allow your rods to clear the top, you might consider an aftermarket rod holder mounted to the console for your rods and use the factory rod holders for your accessories. I got one for Christmas last year and use it for my accessories.

Crabs I'm with you on the fancy grippy thing, I don't have one either. Any fish I catch get hoisted over the side with little or no ceremony or netted depending on size and how they are hooked, I guess I should clean up my act one of these years. Juan, I'll have to get some of my junk out and see what fits, thanks for the ideas, I'll give the bent PVC a look or three. Thanks guys. GT

Just have a seamstress or canvas installer put a zipper directly above where rod holders are. When in use un-zip zipper. When not in use, keep zipper zipped. Problem solved
