Hey guys, new to the forum. Picked up a 1998 21 WA, been a great boat. My issue I keep having is the boat vapor alarm keep sounding. Yesterday it would not shut off, so it ruined our day on the water. I wasn't gonna risk my family's lives. My boat has 200 Optimax mercury outboard.
1. What is causing this? 2. Where is the sensor picking up fumes, in the hull or on the motor box?
Any help where to start would be helpful

Welcome aboard, sorry but I'm not familiar with vapor alarms but a guess would be it's in the cabin. Maybe it's picking up exhaust fumes getting into the cabin .

It's not unheard of for fumes to entire the cabin while running with the door open, I'd be interested to see if you still have the alarm with the door shut. Maybe the alarm is faulty ??.
