I’ve owned this boat for 12 years as the 2nd owner and always have an ASE mechanic serviced the boat. This past summer my motor blew up with a fine size hole by behind the starter. 1). What May have caused it 2). Going to repower you with a same motor but an 03 just so I can get back on the water with an install this winter. Hull/transom is still solid so I’m debating if I should keep the boat, sell it for a GW Gulfstream (same year or so) or repower with a 4 stroke Yamaha. New 250 hp is about 27k and a 300 hp is about 30k. Another option is a used Yamaha 4 stroke 250hp or 300HHp with about 1k hours. I had the utmost confidence on these OX66s but now I’m not sure. Trying to see the most cost effective and feedback. I trailer the boat about 100 miles each way and most fish offshore 25-40 miles each way trolling. I love the boat but the wider beam on the GW is appealing. Sorry for the long post but would love to hear honest feedback. Thanks!

Sounds like you're already sold on a Grady. That's a fine boat and I'd avoid any used motor with 1k hours but that's just my opinion.

Probably corrosion caused the hole, whether to repower or get the grady is up to you, doubt you could go wrong either way.
