So was doing some sanding on a few chunks of paint that fell off. I did sand through my barrier coat in a few spots. My question is will just putting bottom paint over be ok or do I need to put some barrier coat on those spots. If so can the barrier coat get on the existing paint? If so will it affect the new paint ? I use Interlux. Do they have an arosol primer?

I would prefer to apply barrier coat to those spots, sand the antifouling paint down until you see barrier coat around those areas and reapply.

So people are saying I can’t get barrier coat on existing bottom paint. Is this true? Or is a small amount fine .

I'm not saying you can't, I prefer not too. I've read you can but I'd guess that depends on what type of bottom paint is on there, ablative I wouldn't think is a good idea.
