I’m replacing the leaky cracked rear livewell with a fiberglass livewell. I will be removing the plastic one. New one will be deeper. I know there is a cross beam under but I don’t think it is there for anything other then a battery tray. So I may cut a circle out of it so new livewell can sit all the way down on stringers. Doing the math says it’s only an 11 gallon well now. Will be over 30 when finished without an overflow tube sticking up in it to get in the way.

If the existing livewell is sitting on a cross member, I'd guess it's purpose is not only a battery tray but a support to distribute the weight of a full live well evenly over the stringers. If you can, post some pictures as you do it.
