Hi all, I have decided to repower my SeaPro 255WA. It currently has a 2 stroke Yamaha 250 Saltwater Series II.
I'm wondering if anyone has repowered from the same setup - 2 stroke to 4 stroke. Was the higher weight of the 4 stroke a concern? And if I'm considering dropping to a 200HP 4 stroke will the boat be significantly under powered? I never have run the boat full out on any regular basis so if it's just a little less power then I'm fine with that but I don't want to feel like it's way under powered.
Thanks for any advice.
Dan

Look at different brands and see how they stack up compared to your current setup. Lets say they the one you like weighs 80# more than your current motor. You can put a bag of quick crete back there and know exactly what to expect. Main concerns would be making sure your scuppers and thru-hulls stay above the waterline. I wouldn't downsize unless you have to.

MY 235WA runs with a Yamaha F225. After propping it out correctly, i can run 36 WOT.
