Hello, I've got a fuel leak problem with a possible solution, but I need some experienced help. I have a 2004 170CC with a Yamaha TLRC 90. The tank leaks when it's full. I run the engine for 10 minutes and the leak stops, so I'm guessing it's coming out of the fuel sending unit hole. I've tried and tried to reseal it, torque it down in sequence and use different gaskets, but I find it doesn't help. What are some good fuel proof sealants you guys would use to seal the sending unit? I understand it could also be the fuel fill line, but I would imagine that would leak while fueling the boat, to say 3/4 tank, into the bilge, which it does not. I did borescope the tank to look for cracks, and didn't find anything alarming. Thanks for any and all help!

Any chance to look around the sending unit with the borescope while the engine is running/leaking to pinpoint the leak? This may help in sealing any opening.

Next chance I get I'll fill the tank, hook up the muffs and look around. Hopefully it leaks fast enough for me to see.
That's the exact gasket maker I used, but it never "cures" or hardens, I almost think the fuel just pushes it out of the way.

Yes, it’s a plastic tank. I tried to clean the area as best i could with iso alcohol as well before application

Interesting, I never knew something like this existed for plastic tanks. I'll take a look, thanks!

Would you happen to know if the sender hole and bolt pattern are standard on these boats? Or did they vary? I don't have access to the boat at the moment, but before I buy a repair kit I want to make sure the bolt pattern and hole diameter are correct for the kit. I do remember using this fuel sender as a replacement awhile back: www.seaproboatparts.com/wema-fuel-sender-ssl/

Somewhere near the fuel level sending unit you should find a data plate/sticker from the manufacturer, you can contact them with the serial number. Only other way is to pull it and measure.
