2003 SeaPro 220wa/Johnson 175 2 stroke. Previous 2 owners never put a fuel/water separator on so I picked up a raycor s3227 kit with the clear bowl at the bottom. Got new primer/fuel line and brass connectors. Everything fired up nice and was happy to see fuel looked super clean. Ran boat for 10min at the dock. Pulled out and as soon as we got out of the 6 and tried to get on plane. Check engine alarm goes off. Hit idle, went away, tried once more after a quick inspection putted back to the dock. On a hunch I pulled the thing apart, put in a straight brass coupler to bypass separator and leave boat set up as was prior. Works fine. Next I decide to pull the fuel filter on the motor and it looked ok. Need a new one but it’s order only vs retail so I gave it a seafoam bath and back in it went. Boat runs fine. Did I already clog up a water separator after 30min run time? How come the in line filter never got severely jammed up? I know it’s not a water separator. The clear bowl has no signs of contamination or layering of water/fuel. Alway use startron additive. Yes my fuel supply is typically ethanol.

All I can think off is that that filter is rated for 60 GPH and the yamaha filter I used on my 200 was 90 GPH, I would've thought that 60 GPH would be sufficient but maybe not and that's where your fuel restriction is coming from.
