Hi there,
Does anybody have any advice on what to do if I cannot make out the HIN on my 1995 Sea Pro 190 built in Chapin, SC. Had some guy repainting the exterior on it and it seems he filled in/sanded the HIN and I can no longer read it. I need it to register my boat obviously. And just to have it in general. ANY advice would be appreciated!!!

I'm guessing you have never registered the boat previously. I don't think it's legal to have a boat without a visible HIN. Is the state decal or Registration letters from a previous registration on there? You might have to call your local Marine Division and just ask them what to do.

The state that it is currently registered in can pull the info. All they need are the state numbers that were assigned to the hull.

I hope you are able to resolve this quickly. And do please humour us with how the interaction went between the mechanic and yourself upon discovery of such an error. I’d pay him by check... apply the ink with a roller!
