If I take my 2005 Yamaha 150 to a Yamaha dealer, could he connect the analyzer and tell me how many hours the engine has been run?

Yep, they can print out a report showing the run time hours, max rpms, and all sorts of other stuff you might like to know too.

I would call the dealer first with Year Make and SN of your motor. 2004/2005 was the first year that the computers were tracking hours internally. Not all models had it and it depends on your manufacturing date. You can check the date on the SN plate usually on the engine mounting brackets.
The unit the was recommended in the prior response is great, but a waste if your on board computer does not track it
