Anyon have advice on getting an extra key cut for my Yamaha ignition? I was only given one when I bought my rig, previous owner can't find the spare. Is this something I can have done at the local hardware store or do I need to go through Yamaha? Not a typical key, has a cylindrical plastic collar at the base....not sure if a hardware store can handle that type of key.

My best guess is that you'll have to go through a Yamaha rep. and they'll need the key identification number from the key you have to build a new one.

steveh, You should be able to pop the rubber right off the key and the key can probably be made at about any key maker. It just won't say Yamaha on it. the top of the key comes out first, then the blade. I believe all locksmiths go by number and can make a key. I always keep my spare in the tow vehicle since I got to the lake and had forgot my key, ruins the day real quick especially when you go some miles to get to the lake. <`)>((((< ED
