First, I want to say thank you to whomever took the iniative to start a SP owners forum. I also use the www.veradoclub.com forum and have found it to be extremely useful. I am taking out the SP's analog Teleflex gauges ASAP and replacing them with the Smartcraft gauges. I would love to do this by myself, but am not a handyman by any means. My biggest concern is how in the @#$$ do you run cables under the deck to the engine?!?! Also, I am debating on the selection of the gauges. I think I am going to install the System Tach and a multi-function (Temp, oil psi, voltage & fuel level) gauge. I am planning on not installing a Speedo. guage and will rely on the GPS speed display. Will this hurt resale?? Let me know what you think. Thanks, sandlapper1977 '06 Sea Pro sv1900cc '06 Verado 150

sandlapper 1977... I don't know about your boat but I looked around and there was a nylon cord that was tied off on both ends and I use another cord tied to the original to pull lines through. It may have been installed by SP or it may have been the dealer. It works for me. By the way ,If you don't find a cord you can take a short piece of tubing and tie a knot in your cord and shoot it just about anywhere you want it with a good compressed air supply, ED

Use a Plumbing snake to pull wires through, you may want to use a heavy mono line to have one ready if needed in the future.

I used an electricians snake to pull my transducer . On the end with the eyelet take some string and make a couple of loops & tie them to the eyelet. Send the snake under the floor ( it would be a great help to have some one on the other end) have a buddy on the other end with another peice of snake or a bent coat hanger with a 1 inch hook on the end try to catch the string and pull the snake out. you may have to twist or wiggle the snake to go over objects!
Do you have a Verado , if you do then you should call mercury with your serial # and they will tell you what to do for free. You may not need to run any cables to the moter. I didnt need to add a harness when I swapped out to the smartcraft gauges.

I swapped out the factory Teleflex analogue gauges on my 2006 206cc for SC gauges. One of the best mods I have made. I used a section of 10ga Romex house wire to fish thru the 4" pvc rigging chase. When I pulled it back through, I left a heavy nylon line in place for future wire pulling if needed. I couldn't make my electrical snake bend enough at one end to use it, hence the romex solution. PM me if you want more details. See this thread in the Experts section of the Verado club site if you have contributed there. www.veradoclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=301.0
