Red snapper season opened in Florida today and gag grouper and Amber Jack closed on the same day. I went out at 0700 this morning to get one of the endangered red snapper before they were all gone. ;D It was rough out there... a good 3 to 4 foot seas when it was predicted to be flat seas, and I think everyone with a boat had the same idea I had...there were several boats on all my favorite numbers... but the red snapper were plentiful at every stop... I probably boated 20 or more...some more than 22 inches...but the first two to hit the deck were 18" and I didn't cull any... Had to break out the heavy duty rods and reels.. ;D

Congrats on a nice trip. I went yesterday also . A guy I work with and I headed out as soon as we got off work. I was nice over this way. Had some good 3 ft. swells in the AM but layed down pretty good during the day. It was hot though! My truck thermometer read 99 on the ride home. I thought it was broken untill I saw on the news where we set a new record high of 101 for the day. We caught some nice fish. I'll post a couple of pics later. Gonna eat them throats tonight!
