The choke on my 1990 115 Johnson is not working. When I push in the key nothing happens on the carb. I think that I should hear something moving or clicking.
I am not sure how to check to see if the choke is getting power from the key switch or the choke is just bad. When looking at the motor from the front. I think the choke is on the top left hand side of the carb. There is a little red lever that I think should be moving when I push the key in.
Any ideas on how to check the choke and what a new one cost?

Have a helper turn the key to the run position and push the choke button.
1st test is putting your hand on the choke solenoid and/or linkage and see if it is trying to push out and is simply "gummed up" and unable to activate the linkage. My Yamaha does this, and simple need cleaning/lube.
No luck there - then disconnect the choke wire(s) and put a Volt-Ohm Meter on the wires and see if you get 12Vdc when the choke button is pushed.
