Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, but I just wanted to warn fellow boaters about a company that took my money and didn't send me my parts. Back in May, I ordered about 5 different parts for my boat (trim switch, applique button for my controls, etc) While I was ordering, I went ahead and ordered a spare key. Well the package showed up, and the following weekend I opened it up so I could start working and noticed the key wasn't in there. I didn't panic, as many times some orders show up in separate boxes from different places. A few days go by and no key, so I send an email to them and ask them to either refund me the $5.66, or send me the key. The CS rep tells me that they would prefer to send me the key, and she would get it taken care of. Fast forward to yesterday, it just dawned on my that I never got that key. So I sent an email last night asking the rep to follow up on it, and I got the following response: "Dear Sir,
Unfortunately that claim was denied by management because the allotted 48hr time frame to report items missing and or damaged was expired. The order was delivered on the 22nd of May, and you didn't email to report it to us until the 31st of May.
Regards, Cynthia Customer Service Boats.net "
Needless to say, I was not impressed with the decision by "management" to keep my money and the part. Anyway sorry for my rant, but I wanted to warn you guys about my negative experience with them. They also own 100 other sites with similar names. You can find them here:http://www.outdoornetwork.com/domain_names.html I know it's only $5.66 and I'm sure they didn't intentionally not ship the part, as my other parts did show up, but they did intentionally decide to keep my money.

I would be talking to Cynthia's boss or the member of management that made that decision. I know it's only 6 bucks but its the principal. It's bad business and I would let them know that you frequent boating Internet forums and will plaster this experience on every one however it turns out, good or bad. The next move would be theirs...

Freezerfiller, I just copied your e-mail and was going to send it to Boat.net support but that is like a home page to a bunch of different sites. What was the website or phone number. I love this stuff. I can start some $hit or should I say I can follow-up on $hit like this. I really do not care because I have nothing to loose. Well it is not my money but if it was I would be do the same thing.
I learned this from my wife. DO NOT $CREW with her money PERIOD Most of the time I come out on top but if I don't what have I lost?
Willing to help.

I'd be pizzed off too, but if they had a written 48 hour notice / return policy, and you didn't report it within that time frame you're fighting a losing battle. I've been screwed so many times on online purchases, I just bend over and grab my ankles when I order something on line.

Thanks for the information!
Its crazy nowadays how people would risk business for 6 bucks, especially in the world of social media where a message like this can travel so quickly. I wonder if they realize how much money they will actually lose over a 6 dollar sitation; i can tell i will definatley not be shopping there and im sure others will do the same following this post. Not to mention that policy is just unethical.
But reading between the lines, anyone who has a policy like that is basically admitting one of two things, they either mess up often or are purposly working their customers over.
Anyone ever see the Tommy Boy movie? -> ....with that policy they are basically saying "we are so bad at our jobs and mess up so often that we are going to make our customers take all of the responsibility if we mess up." Or, "lets see how many items we can leave out of the box and how many people do not report them within two days of receipt."

Juan, I agree, I'm sure I checked a box somewhere on the site that had 3 pages of legal mumbo jumbo about 48 hour returns, that's why I didn't bother. I've already posted 4 bad reviews on various review websites. It was there that I found this one... I wish I had seen this before I ordered. www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.boats.net runninlate, It is www.boats.net not boat.net.. yolo, funny clip, and you're spot on. I could buy milk at Winn Dixie that was set to expire in 2 days, and they would let me return it in 2 days because I said it tasted funny. I wouldn't do that to them, but good businesses do what they can for their customers. This just isn't a good business. Eventually they will screw enough folks that word will get around on them. I noticed the BBB has their report pulled for review. Not sure what that means, but you bet I'll be giving them a call on Monday to add to it.

Post it in DOCKSIDE CHAT.
Juan and Simple Man what do you know about the SAND BAR?
Is it good reading? Anything Interesting? Hope the articles are not long and has some picture. My mind starts wondering if the articles have too much to read. It gets boring! I guess that is why I like comic books.

I don't know anything about it. There is nothing there when I go. I think you have to be in the captains club or something like that to see it. I'm not interested enough to pay anything...

There's a LOT in the Sand Bar, but you're right, you have to be a member of the Captain's club to see it and it's rated PG 13 so you can't get in any way

I have had good service and enjoyed dealing with Defender.com, Ultimatepassage.com and a couple of the E-Bay stores. Never like giving my credit card number to someone I can't talk to and especially over the world wide web. I try to deal with companies that have pay-pal accounts; to me it seems to be a more secure way of dealing.?
