I need help. have 1900SVCC with Johnson 140 4 Stoke.. boat cranks and runs but after varying times, begins to stutter/slow down. After re-pumping bulb, will run but resume stutter, etc. Have ordered replacement fuel line and bulb. Perhaps inner lining has failed due to ethanol. I have heard that dirt daubers might have clogged vent.
Can anyone specifically tell me where the vent is located. Gas cap in on port/aft side on top of gunnel.
Also, are their anymore troubleshooting recommendations besides these TWO possible fixs???
Thanks so much for any help

if your boat is equipped with a water separator filter this would be the first place I would check. fuel bulb may also be suspect, cheap easy fix even if that is not the problem and if you'r running ethanol fuel not a bad idea every so often. don't know johnsons very well but most motors have a small clear or opaque fuel filter some where on the exterior of the motor under cowling, maybe dirty? other than that if you don't have a separator I strongly recommend one especially with ethanol based fuel.

Dump that fuel and get a fuel-water sep and empty it frequently if your are forced to use E-gas.
