Trailered to St. Marks last weekend and had zero problems with bearings or tires (where's that beer drinking smiley?). Anyway, the reports were that the grouper had moved out past the 9 mile line, so we stayed inshore and targeted speckled trout. We came one shy of the limit, and added some Spanish and I kept one bluefish to try out my striped bass cleaning technique to see how it turns out. Anyway, beautiful weather and the boat ran great!! Oh, and you see I have those fish in my homemade shrimp shack. It worked flawlessly with the 12v power bubbles. I was able to keep dozens of shrimp alive for two days (mainly because gulp new penny was the bait of the trip this time) I only moved the fish into that when the livewell couldn't keep all the fish alive (Spanish just don't handle captivity), and rather than have fishy beer, I decided to move the shrimp into the live well, and the fish into the shrimp shack with ice.

Great report! I like St. Marks. The last time down, I had a huge cougar (The 4 legged kind) walk in front of the truck on the way out. Wish I had had a camera at the time. Where do launch?

Juan, I launched from shell island fish camp, but there are a couple of other options as well, a public ramp in town, and one at the refuge that will save you some boat gas getting out to the flats. SC, it is somewhat of a fishing dream, but if you come back to dock anywhere within an hour of sunset, you better have a bug suit on because the no see ums are just sharpening their teeth waiting on you to dock... In fact, they don't even wait. Worst I've ever experienced.
BTW, Sea Pro was well represented there. I must have seen 9 private sea pro's at the marina in addition to the boats that they rent (several of them are sea-pros).

I've been launching at the refuge..(near the lighthouse) but haven't been there since they rebuilt the ramp..I hear it's really nice now... (not that it was bad before)

Fished last weekend and struggled. I'd say we averaged 3 keepers per person per day. What is stranger is that we didn't catch the insane number of short trout that we have caught in the past. It felt slow. I was used to catching the limit, it just depended on whether it took 4 hours or 8. This is the second year that I've noticed this. I did see two manatees. Might be time to relocate.

Doesn't sound like a bad trip to me. 3 fish a day is the legal limit where I normally fish. I fished a couple days in Carrabelle last week. Picked up a bottle of Maker's Mark and got a motel room not far from one of the ramps so I was on the water by 7 a.m. each day. The first day I had three keepers out of 27 fish before the wind chassed me off the water before noon, The second day was better. I had a 5 fish limit, 2 keeper flounder and 30 something short fish before 9.am. when it got too windy again.
