Pulled the trigger Monday on a new 3.0L complete. Problem is, I didn't save up the extra money for the shop to install a Freshwater Cooling System. I'll be running a mostly in brackish water. Has anyone here ever installed one themselves?
I'm thinking it might be a good idea seeing that I'm getting a brand new motor.

It's not fun, but you can do it. If you plan to keep it, it's worth doing. I've done it on an inboard. The biggest issue is the addition of the raw water pump, and making sure you have it all where it fits under the hood, and get the right belt for the new pump. I have no mercruiser experience, but it should be pretty close to an inboard...

Yep you are correct about the pump. That's what happens when I try to watch pre-season football and post simultaneously..
