Need a little help. My family owns a place in the South Carolina low country near Georgetown. We are preparing to buy our first boat, and the advice I have gotten from some locasl is a 19ft bay boat and the Sea Pro specifically. We are currently looking at a 2003 with a Yami 115 and the current ask is $12,500. My brother is pushing for a 2000 18ft cc with a Yami 100, with an asking price of $8,000. Some additional details are that the boat will be used almost exclusively in the marsh and bays for fishing and toting the family around and the water can get pretty skinny. Also, I enjoy doing some fly fishing and it appears to me that would be impossible in the 18 ft. I also noticed that the 18ft weighs an extra 150 lbs and i'm concerned about it having enough power with a family of 5 on board. Any thoughts would be most appreciated, thanks.

The 18ft is a Sea Pro, but it seems to me we're trying to put a square peg in a round hole with that one. Good point on the trim tabs and thanks for the advice.

I agree the bay boat would fit your needs, they are very popular boats and probably hold their value fairly well.

I own the 1900 Sea Pro Bay Boat and absolutely love it!! I also agree that the 1900 is a much better fit for you than 180. Please feel free to ask any specific questions here and you will get lots of response.

I have a sv1900 2002 bay boat, and absoutly love it. Best decision I have made for a used boat. Is the 03 you are looking at have a 4 stroke-- if so how many hours, condition of trailer, livewells work? Is it worth 4k more-- absoutly. The sv series are great little boats that can get skinny. It sounds for what you want to do the 19 footer would be your best choice.

The SV 1700, 1900, 2100, and, 2400 were Sea Pro's Bay boats. The 3 digit numbers were traditional center console hulls, either center console, double console, or, walk arounds. The bay boats are shallower draft, they have a deck in the front, they are smaller in vertical cross section. The 3 digit model numbers are deeper hulls and will draw a little deeper draft. You can research the specs for each model. Im not saying the 1900 is a better boat than the 180, it just fits my needs better, and, from your description, I think it would fit you nicely as well. If I were regularly going off shore, I would want a deeper boat, one of the three digit models. I fish fresh water and inshore, explore with the family, and drag the kids around on the tube.
Guys, if I have misspoken, please correct me.

I know I am the odd man out here, but the 180 has less draft (8") than the 1900 (10"). However, with a family of 5, I wouldn't go any less than a 21'. The wide beam 210's have a 13" draft and the 2100's have an 10" draft. You can get a 2000-2003 for the price of the 1900 you found if you are patient.

Agree with the quote above, The SeaPro18 is actually a 17.5 and although a good boat is best with 2 people, 3 ok, 4's a crowd. With 5 agree 21' MINIMUM. Have an seapro 180cc now had a SeaHunt 22 w 150 Yammie and 20 Mako they were good w/4 but tough to fish if a 5th person was added. Have you considered the impact on your draft with the impact of 5 people and all the associated gear Ice refreshments etc?
