Got some unusual handles on this forum. Wondering what the story is behind them. I go by Mosquito13 for a couple reasons... Worked for county for years doing mosquito control . With that job I got to spend a lot of time on the barrier islands abating saltwater marsh mosquitoes. Got my first flats boat as a surplus from Monroe County's mosquito control. 17 ' pathfinder tunnel hull with a 90 yamaha($1400). It was flat grey and look like a gov. boat. I got some vinyl letters made up in the same font as our counties vehicles use saying "Mosquito13" on each side. Law enforcement , DNR, Coast Guard all know me and never bothered me unless it was social, the mullet guys would run if they saw my boat???(sold this boat to finance the 2100cc). M is the 13th letter in the alphabet. 13 is my lucky #.

I think I've told this before but I like a lot of gadgets and lights on my boats and vehicles.. I've added cab lights on the roof, lighted windshield washers, running lights over the running boards, LED lights behind the grill, accent lights on the license tag holder, stop lights on top of the tailgate and a strip light under the tailgate not to mention changing all the original lights to LED on my tow truck... I've added a lot of extra LEDs and reflection tape on my boat trailer... One of my fishing buddies says it looks like a Mexican whore house at night and started calling me "Juan". It stuck.
skeeter, I've got a lot of respect for you skeeter control types.. I grew up in Monroe county in the 60s and can remember the skeeters being so think you could hardly see the skin on your arms when fishing anywhere near the mangroves. That old spray plane and the skeeter trucks were a God send!!

Juan - that is absolutely hilarious. It would also appear that we could be brothers as I am a total LED nerd - to the point of removing the dash in my F250 to replace the incandescent dash lights with LED's. I have a box in my garage with about 200$ in spare LED strips, singles and fixtures just in case someone needs extra light in their vehicle.
My forum name came from my first over-tinkering hobby -Paintball. When I was a kid I nerded out so much with my paintball guns that they ended up being a hybrid of the best attributes of the three most effective guns available. Some of us just cant let things be as they were made from the manufacturer

Not much of a story to mine. I served in the British Army as a Gunner in the Royal Artillery, Gunner was always abbreviated to Gnr so I'm gnrphil.

Ha, I always thought you were a Guns-N-Roses fan!! When I signed up, I had just come back from Alaska with 150# of salmon fillets, and 50# of Halibut. Then less than a month later I got drawn for my first alligator hunt where I got the one in my profile pic. Needless to say the freezer(s) was full!!

When I was trying to figure out a name for the boat, one of the first things I thought of was "osprey" because I love watching them. I thought Ahh-Spray would be a clever word-play. Then my wife said to use 4 capital H's because that's the first letter of our last name and we have 2 kids, so an H for each of us and it became AHHHH-Spray! I just wish I could fish like an osprey!

That’s when my brother said with that new boat you won’t be AFRAID to go offshore now! So Fraydknot not was it.

My screen name is a 2 part story. Captain come from my job. I am the Captain of a 100' commercial fishing sea scallop boat. I go anywhere from Virginia all the way up to the Candian line looking for sea scallops. I have been doing that for about 13 years. Duck comes from when I was a little kid. I had an Uncle who said that I waddled like a duck when I would walk around in a diaper. He gave me the nickname Rubber Duck. So when I became a Captain my brothers gave me the call name Capt. Duck on the VHF radio. The name has stuck and that's how a lot of other captains know me as Capt Duck!

Years ago I fished out of the Landings Harbor and used to fish the snapper banks about 35 miles off the sea buoy. I told the harbor master that I would be back around 3. Used to call them from the banks and asked them to call my wife and tell her that I was running late. After the 3rd or 4th straight week calling the harbormaster asking him to call my wife and tell her I am Runnin Late. The came back over the VHF and told me that they knew that I was Runnin Late and would call my wife.

Wife and daughter came up with mine for something I now cant even remember. I work for the local cable company/MSO as a line tech/maintenance tech. Spend my days gaffing poles trouble shooting RF and fiber issues.

Hi guys,
New to the forum but have been watching while waiting for the new to me 2002 200FF is coming my way. Years ago I worked at a nursery. We had some overgrown cherry trees too large to safely dig out for sale. So, they had to go. After lunch, I went into the field by myself, forgetting my radio, in a 3 or 4 speed CJ7. I wasn't really paying attention as that fresh chainsaw blade went through the tree and onto my knee. I was using bad form anyway, I had it coming. Henceforth, I was Chainsawbob which beats a previous nickname.... Projectilebob. Ya'll can guess.
