I have my cousins 2004 sea pro with a 90hp v4 Johnson 2 stroke. He asked me to do some regular maintenance on it. I did what he asked and took it out on the water to find that I could not got it on a plane with 4 people no gear. That's with everyone standing on the bow at a certain point!!!! When I got it back in my shop I realized that watching the butterfly's in forward gear they barley moved and the throttle on motor was barely opened up. So I thought it could be the cable needed to be adjusted. My problem I can't wrap my brain around is when in reverse the butterfly's open all the way up and the throttle is opened up so much more than when full throttle in forward. I'll post pictures of where the butterfly arms are on forward and reverse if I can figure it out. Thanks Read more: seaproforum.proboards.com/thread/5258/throttle-fully-opens-reverse-forward#ixzz5DhHIIV8k

Sounds like you have an issue with the linkage either on the motor or control, someone more familiar with johnsons will help. Welcome aboard.

Thanks I actually just pulled the control off. With the plastic cover off I can get full throttle. Looks like it doesn't have enough clearance to go full throttle when the plastic cover is on the controls. Any suggestions?
