I'm guessing there's no accurate way to calculate GPH without a fuel consumption gauge of some sort. What's the best way to calculate GPH for a boat with analog gauges? I can get mileage/distance with Navionics but can't figure out gph. Is there an app that would give a close estimate? I found this site but there's no 150 hp Suzuki and I'm not sure any of the others are accurate: www.boat-fuel-economy.com/outboard-fuel-consumption-us-gallons

Can you hook up the Suzuki to your gps/fishfinder with a nmea200 cable? most newer motors can do that and that should give you real time GPH, otherwise I think the only way would be to calculate fuel used and time running but that would only give you and average.

Another reason to upgrade my chart plotter! I have the nmea 2000 network connected to a Point 1 antenna puck and I guess the motor will connect too but my current chart plotter doesn't have a page with the gauges on it so I don't think that will work unless I get a new gps. There's an app for everything these days, I was hoping there would be one that you could enter mileage, hours, and motor specs and it would give you a rough estimate but I can't find anything like that.

10% of horse power time .8 at 5000 rpms .5 at 4 to 4200 (good seas/conditions) Your boat being a bay boat you should be getting better that the deep vee.
this is close to what I have been getting over the past 10 years

What is horsepower time? multiply or divide?

10% HP(150)= 15, X .8 = 12 GPH @5000 RPM X .5 = 7.5 GPH @ 4200 RPM
Didn't know this but is surprisingly accurate for my boat.

I got the fuel management setup and know exactly what my consumption is. I don't know how hard it is to install after the fact.

I would think my numbers might be a bit better since it's a different hull but who knows... I have a heavy throttle hand. I think my best option to get an accurate reading is to connect to a new chart plotter since I want to upgrade any way. I wish there was a local store who had them on display. I can't make myself order a $2K HDS Carbon without first checking it out in person.
