I don't go offshore often and I don't think I've ever lost cell service at more than 17 miles out but I have been in a few creeks and bayous inshore where I didn't have a signal. I think the ditch bag is one of those "just in case" things that I hope I'll never need. It's not going back in the boat until the stink goes away now.
