I am new to all of this, so I greatly appreciate your help and advice. I recently bought a 1995 Sea Pro 230 WA (photo attached).
I noticed on the Maximum Capacities Placard that it is a "Model : 220 D/B" ( photo attached)
I thought the model was 230 WA? Can somebody help me understand?

That's confusing! Looks as if the capacities placard came from another boat / model to me... Can you post the HIN (Hull Identification Number)? It's probably on the outside of the transom //starboard side.

HIN: PIOWA378E595.
I think the last two digits, 95, are the year. Is there a way to decipher the rest and tell which model this is?

I think someone swapped the Placard from a different boat.

Does anybody know where I can get the correct placard?
The problem is, my boat has a 2005 Yamaha 175 HPDI with great compression numbers and only 475 hours. But at WOT(5500rpm) it just gets to 21 mph and no more.
I asked a marina about repowering and they looked at the placard and said they wouldn't put any more power on it than the placard (liability reasons I assume). So I guess first I have to get the correct placard before they will even consider re-powering.
I really thought the 175 would be fine, but I'm guessing it will need 225 or 250hp.
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I asked a marina about repowering and they looked at the placard and said they wouldn't put any more power on it than the placard (liability reasons I assume). That's a fact... They won't install anything over the maximum HP rating.. But your placard isn't right and doesn't state recommended or maximum. As already stated, they can look it up.. There's a difference in recommended HP and maximum rated HP too and the 150 on your placard could be the recommended HP. I found that out when I repowered.. My placard states 150 recommended HP. It doesn't state it on the placard but the maximum rating is 225. The dealer would have installed up to 225 but no more. If you decide to repower, tell them to look up the maximum hp rating.

Anyone with a 230 care to share the actual placard for this boat? I think 225-250 should be about right..

Yes, that would be very helpful if somebody with a 230 WA could send a photo or info from their capacity placard. Thank you for all the help with this. You guys are great!

I have a 2002 220 WA. I’ll post a plate photo. The motor is a 2003 200hp Yamaha 2 stroke which is plenty of power.

Hi, sorry fiddyfish, was busy today installing trailer guides and fenders and forgot about this. Here is the capacity plate on my 2002 220 WA. As I said, I have a 200hp Yamaha SaltwaterSeries II 2 stroke. It has plenty of power for this boat.

I looked around and couldn't find anything on a 230, I did see a 235 on youtube that stated 10 people and 300hp max

Thanks guys! Just what I needed. Really appreciate it. Was out in my 230 WA yesterday and it comes up on plane around 3700 rpm. It hits 21 mph at 4500 rpm and then at WOT 550rpm it's still around 21 mph. So I'm guessing a 225 might give it some more speed. By the way, it has a terrific ride. Very stable and solid. The deep hull and 3000 lbs are big contributors to that I guess.

That's still really slow, the hpdi's are strong motors. I'd expect to see mid 30's with that set up, sounds like the prop is all kinda wrong, I say that because I once tried a smaller diameter and higher pitch and it had the same effect. What prop is on it and get us a pic of the motor height.
