Hello all, today I joined the Sea Pro Club with a little 170 DC from 1993. Looking for any and all info I can about the boat and google decided this should be a good place to start.
Looking forward to many fish coming over the side. I hope to be able to contribute something to the forum in the future and I'm sure the forum will have all sorts of useful bits for me.

Welcome! probably the best source of general info on you boat can be found here: rnr-marine.com/seapro.shtml#seapro170dl You'll need to scroll down quite a bit. There's actually not much there regarding your model, but the 170cc should be pretty close. What is powering it?

There's actually not much there regarding your model, but the 170cc should be pretty close. What is powering it? I found the linked info last night and have looked into it a little bit. I definitely plan to get to know it more as needed. The outboard is a 75hp Mercury ELPTO with the O already disabled. Not 100% sure of the year but assuming its around 1993 as well. The serial number is kinda gone. The sticker is still there but the numbers are faded. I'll be looking into that more as I have the time. The only complaint I have so far is that the previous owner took the old 20 gallon tank out (which is probably a good thing) and replaced it with a 12 gallon tank only.

Welcome Aboard sdyeti, you're going to find some good people here with lots of info. I too have an older Sea Pro 1998 180CC with a 115 2 stroke Yamaha on it, purchased boat motor and trailer new, have owned the boat for 20 years and it has served me well.The secret to any boat is maintenance...Post some pictures when you get a chance.

Finally able to get a couple of pics up. Its a pretty simple setup overall. Two seats, a few rod holders, an outbaord, and a bait tank.

Hey SD, great boat! I saw your recent thread on a repower (I have the same boat) and then found this one. Your boat looks to be in great shape; I hope that it's treated you well (despite that Merc giving you trouble this year.)
I'm curious about why you think it was a good idea for the previous owner to have swapped out the original fuel tank for a smaller one. It's a long story but my boat had fuel problems that we originally thought were tank-related, so we ran it on external tanks for years. Just this season, I decided to try out the internal poly tank again. She looked clean as a whistle, so I changed out everything - sender, pickup, anti-siphon valve, lines, water separator - and gave it a go. Ran perfectly all season. I'm wondering if I'm missing something and ought to reconsider the internal tank.

The 12G Moeller that is currently in the hole is just a convenient and easy exchange. I think the PO wasn't trying to go very far at all on his fishing trips. I on the other hand am trying to get 25 miles out and back. Had to have the topside 12 gallons to go with the belly tank 12. Most trips I still carried an extra 5g in a jug as well. With the eventual repower happening I went ahead and ordered a new custom tank to fit the hole. It should be 18 gallons. Once I get it in hooked up I'll post some pics and links to where I ordered it from. Total cost with shipping was $460 or so. The new motor should get nearly twice the fuel economy as I was getting and so I don't plan on using the topside tank anymore.
