Hello All,
New to this forum and Sea Pro Boating. I got a fairly good deal on a V 1900 CC. Extremely nice boat. I am cleaning up the wiring under the console and adding some upgraded electronics. Things are going well other that the tight space that I am trying to fit my full size body frame into. Any ideas on how to get easier access to the wiring behind the dash? I am so contorted lying between the console and helm seat that I can only stay there for short periods at a time. I looked at removing the steering wheel and the dash, but I'm not sure how much trouble that would be? Any ideas??

You should be able to access the majority of wiring by removing the 6 or 8 screws that hold the gauge panel to the console and then pulling the panel forward as far as the wiring will allow.

Agree with Juan. Also, not sure what year your 1900 is, but, mine has a tackle storage in the front of the console. Basically cut a big square hole in the front of the console behind the cushion and install a door. this gives me great access to the under console mess.

I removed the screws that hold the gauge panel to the console, but the panel would not move. I did not want to pry for fear of cracking it. I assumed that the steering mechanism that is behind the panel prevented the panel from coming off? That was when I looked at removing the steering wheel, but got a bit nervous about doing this. The boat is a 1999 and has no tackle storage, but cutting an access and installing a door at the front of the console behind the "cooler" seating sounds like a good alternative?

The gauge panel was caulked when installed. You may need to take something to loosen it. I wouldnt pry so much as try to get a sharp putty knife under the edge and work it around.
TH marine makes several door and insert combos. Fully removable door or hinged.

Many times the panel is secured with silicone to keep the water out. try going around it with a single edge razor blade or a putty knife.
