Should be fuel or spark. Sounds like spark to me.

Run it on an external fuel tank to eliminate any fuel supply issues including the primer ball, then make sure you have no fuel leaks at the carbs or any where on the motor ( anywhere where it could suck in air). If all good there buy yourself a new power pack www.marineengine.com/newparts/part_details.php?pnum=OMC0586292

Sounds like it might be the power pack to me too. I just didn't want to say that.

Just for my own feelings, power pack is spark, right? Spark control?

I always thought it was like a distributor cap that times the spark to the cylinders. Of course it would be electronically controlled and more elegant.

I am having the same problem with a 1993 Evinrude 115. Have replaced all things fuel from the tank to the fuel pump. Put in new plugs and wires. All seem to be firing. Is there an easy way to test a powerpack?

Is there an easy way to test a powerpack? Is your fuel bulb still tight after running? If not try running from a portable fuel tank. The problem with testing a powerpack is that some of them only fail once they heat up and will test as good when cold.

Ok Boys and Girls... here's the latest... decided to appeal to a higher authority.. the $75/hr kind... After completely checking the entire fuel suppply system, including replacing the original/updated "double round" VRO fuel pump with the modified "dog house-shaped" fuel pump, the wires, the plugs, the fuel pick up... Mr. Boat mechanic found that the bottom carburetor high-speed jet backed out of the hole it screws into so it was dumping too much fuel to the motor to go at high RPM. So, there ya have it... all you DIY folks that follow it through, I hope I saved you the umm, well, $400 simoleans... (labor, carb kits, etc). I love my boat. It's just my bank account I have issues with.

I'm glad you got it fixed. That's one thing I hated about the multicarb setups, they are much harder to diagnose.
