Hey everyone! I’m new to this forum but just put a deposit on a 2000 Sea Pro, 170 CC, and I think going to buy it! Does anyone have experience with this boat or advice on what I should get checked out before I sign the dotted line? They will go through a compression test, fluid check and sea trial, but it’s with a dealer and I want to be able to negotiate and get the most out of it. I’m also curious if anyone has tried them in the flats at all? Specs says it drafts 8” but I’d be curious to hear some examples! How does it ride in chop? Etc etc etc
Thanks everyone!

Had one for years and loved it. Had an 85 Suzuki 2 stroke on it and it was like dancing with a pretty girl. Did make some modifications: -added a deep cycle battery for the livewell and trolling motor. -moved the batteries under the console from the bilge. -insulated the starboard rear compartment for a fish storage area with inch thick foam and fiberglass. -added a cleat to the center of the bow so it would ride straight on anchor. -added some rod holders, not enough from the factory. -added a midsized fishfinder/gps, mine was a Garmin 74. 8 inches is a bit optomistic, when you add a motor and a person or two add about 6 inches, still not bad. Make sure the electrics work, check the wiring for sloppy modifications. Overall a nice little boat for one or two, handles rough water nicely and is easy to trailer with a smaller vehicle.

Thanks for the response! This one has a 90HP Johnson on it and seems like it will get up and go. What was the most amount of people you took on it? Is it pretty stable if we wanted to pack 3-4 people on it for a day cruise? Most of the time it will only be 2 people but I am curious how it rides with a couple people. I do a sea trial tomorrow, woo!
Thanks for the tips and modification list. I’ll pay extra close attention to the electronics and wiring!

Hope your sea trial went well! If I remember 90 is max HP, it should handle well with that motor, I wouldn't put more on it. 4 persons is max also, with that number of folks it gets crowded and if two move at once it can be tippy. My family basically outgrew the boat, we are 4 200 pounders, with 2 or 3 it was fine but 4 maxed it out. Hope this helps.
