The governor just issued a Stay at Home order for Al starting tomorrow and lasting until April 30. I had planned on going to one of the local boat ramps with a shovel and trying to clear enough sand left by the last flood to allow vehicles to use the ramp again. I guess that's not an option now and good thing I didn't do it today. They're saying there's a $500 fine if you're caught away from home for any reason that's not considered "essential". How are liquor stores and golf courses considered essential and fishing isn't? Fishing is essential damnit! My predictions for day 31 if and when this order is lifted: 1. Lawyers will be busy with new divorce cases. 2. Increased murder rate. 3. There will be another "baby boom" 8 to 9 months from now. 4. Gas prices will double. 5. There will be an extension of the Stay at Home order. Y'all be safe out there!

I have been at hunting camp fishing and turkey hunting with my son for the last 3 days. I came home today to find out Georgia issued a shelter in place order yesterday. I think I need to go back since that's where I was when the order was given..

EDIT: just found a list of things allowed under the order... Fishing is an outdoor activity! Obtain necessary supplies Obtain or provide necessary services Attend religious services To take care of others To work To engage in outdoor activity To seek shelter To travel as required by law To see family members

Fishing is still allowed here in Ohio, but the ODNR is policing the ramps. We went up to check on our place last weekend. It was nice out and I guess they had to turn some folks away for not maintaining the 6 foot social distancing guideline. It's kind of weird. The boat showrooms up on Erie are closed, but if they do service, those are considered "essential services". The service department where I store my boat is open and operating. So I guess I'll still be able to launch my boat next month and start fishing. Assuming this doesn't get any worse than it already is.

I'm guessing the ODNR are like the FWC here in Florida. (Game wardens who have the same authority as LE officers). They aren't even working here so no worries. I went to the ramp at the river Saturday and shoveled sand that was left from a recent flood event and I had never seen so many people. There wasn't a parking space left in the parking lot. Got the ramp in good shape and launched there this morning and saw only 5 other boats but I left early after catching only 3 stripers. I just hope everyone abides by the rules so they don't close the ramps to the public.
