Long time reader, 1st time posting. I recently sold my deckboat with the intention of buying my first center console bay boat. I have checked out several boats and always keep coming back to the sea pro. So i have decided to buy a sea pro SV 2100, I have come here to check and read the advise given to previous buyer and sellers. I just came across this boat and it seems like a decent price and in great condition, with alot of the "stuff" myself and the admiral want on the boat. Me-fishing stuff, her comfortable seating a safety for the kids. BUT- i am concerned about the age of the motor and it being a 2 stroke. I realize any used motor can be a crap shoot, i should get it tested and inspected before buying etc. Any advise/thoughts would be appreciated. Also if someone else was interested and is closer to Ruskin than I am, by all means go ahead. www.boattrader.com/boat/2006-sea-pro-sv-2100-bay-boat-7549922/Thanks Grant

Welcome aboard Grant. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you buy a Sea Pro. They're tough boats. I've had my 04 2100 for 15 years and still love it. If you knew me and my boats that's saying a lot. Based on the photos, the 06 you're looking at looks good and is nicely rigged and considering how the market is currently on used boats, the price is not bad at all. There was a nice 05 on Craigslist yesterday listed at $15K, I can't find it now so I'm assuming it sold. The few others I've seen lately are priced well over $20K. I wouldn't worry about the 2 stroke Yammie OX66. It's a strong motor. I owned one once and my only complaint is that it was a gas hog. A few observations: The cooler seat doesn't appear to be the original. It doesn't have trim tabs (and they make a huge difference on that hull). It has a keel guard. They tend to come off after a while and they've been used to cover up damage to the keel so check the keel for gouges. You'll love that Ulterra trolling motor too. Be sure the remote comes with it.

Hi Juan, Roll tide- I live in Tuscaloosa!
Thanks for the advise. I would definitely want to look under that keel guard and get it removed (the name and stickers too). Gas hog as in 1 MPG or better than that?
I have a question- how is trailering these boats? I would run between Tuscaloosa and Pensacola several times a year. I could not do that with my deckboat as it was like a 4500lb sail behind my sequoia. It really pushed the car around too much to feel safe.I know MPG will suffer but Im more concerned with how the tow vehicle is effected.
I have fished off a 1900 and the 2100. Both are great boats but the extra couple feet for a family of 5 and dog sometimes will come in handy.

Hi Juan, Roll tide- I live in Tuscaloosa! Well ROLL TIDE back at cha! Looks like the virus may keep em off the field this year. What do you plan to pull it with? I think your towing experience is going to depend on what you have for a tow vehicle. I know they're rated at different towing capacities but the more power, the better imo. That hull weighs 1600 lbs then to be safe add another 700 - 900 lbs for motor, fuel, & gear so I'd want my tow vehicle to have a towing capacity of around 2,500. They trailer great (especially with the tandem axle trailer) On average, I tow mine about 200 miles a week with a 2010 Dodge Ram and it's hard to tell the boat is even behind the truck (Until I check the gas mileage ) As for the OX66 gas mileage, I won't speculate on what it would be with a 2006 200 hp model.. Probably a lot better than the 1998 250 hp model I owned and after replacing that with a 4 stroke, I swore the four stroke was making fuel. It was a great motor otherwise. Forgot to mention... check the wiring and be sure all the accessories like bilge & livewell pumps, horn, radio, etc work... Wiring is the weak link on Sea Pros but it's easily repaired or replaced if and when it's required. btw: Beware of Simple Man... He bleeds blue and burnt orange and I think he planted the trees at Toomer's Corner.

Thanks Juan. I have a Sequoia V8 4x4. The Sea pro loaded will be about 2000 lbs less than the deck boat so that alone will be an enormous improvement on towing.
I am cautiously optimistic that the season will go on. We need SEC football for Saturdays in fall to feel right. Hell we need to beat LSU to get the world right. It went to hell in a hand basket after they won the national championship.

Some would say that the world came into perfect balance when Coach O. and Joe Burreaux. put the whoop-ass on those other Tiger people.
