Took boat out around 40 miles, ran great, came back went to gas up & usually it only takes 16 gallons give or take. This is the first time it happened, it took 36 gallons, scratching my head I figured I forgot to fill up after last use. Thank God The pump shut off at $100.. trailered back to house & gas is shooting out the bilge ports, got home I suspected the bilge filled up with gas so got every gas can & all the 5 gal buckets I had & 1 bucket at a time placed below the drain plug unscrewed the drain plug & sure enough 36 gals of gas filled the bilge. After bilge was drained I hosed down the bilge in more buckets until I was sure all gas was gone. I haven't investigated yet, too tired. Next morning!! I'm going to check the filler tube & everything easily accessible first & I believe (hoping) it is a filler hose problem, mainly but I will bring it to a pro afterwards regardless either way, too volatile not to. If anyone has experienced something similar please comment, I welcome all. Thanks everyone

I had a similar experience once. Stopped to refuel after a day offshore and put in over 50 gal of fuel. The pump never shut off but I thought the tank had to be close to full. When I got home I noticed a strong smell of gas and found the bilge full of fuel. I too drained all 50 gal into every gas can and bucket I had to be used in my mowers and truck. It took a while to figure out the problem... When filling up at the pump, I had been distracted by a very small bikini filling up at the pump next to me and I put the gas nozzle in the rod holder near the fill port. True story.

Uh Oh, I hope it's the classic fill up in the rod holder mistake.

Hopefully the foam Sea Pro used is fuel resistant. I've wondered.

Been there , done that. Only about 5 gallons right into rod holder. Drained, rinsed. Dawn, then rinsed again.
