Well cancel that, just got a call that the insurance won't cover all that needs to be done so it's on pause for now. Best healthcare in the world my ass.

Good luck with the surgery. I hope you heal quickly. Is it rotator cuff surgery? I've been putting it off for a few years due to the number of people that say how long the recovery is.

I was going to say good luck with surgery now I’ll say good luck with the insurance. As I’m typing this , my wife just handed me ANOTHER bill from my shoulder surgery. It was 5 freaking months ago! I think every damn Dr that walked by my bed while I was there has charged me an extra 40$. Unbelievable , what timing with this post.

Got a meeting with the surgeon on Monday to discuss how we proceed, I think I'll just pay what the insurance won't cover and get this sorted. Either that or a flight back to the UK and get it done for free.

I think I'd go the free route if I qualified. Rotator cuff surgery sounds worse than my knee replacement and that was $65,000. Medical expenses in the U.S. are unbelievable!

The free route may or may not be an option although it should be, only problem with that is the time I'd have to stay there for recovery.

That sucks. I feel your pain, literally. My right rotator cuff has been bad for a good 40 years and has finally reached the point where there are two tears and ligament damage that needs to be repaired. Falling a couple of times full force on the shoulder will do that. As stated in an earlier post, May 3, 4 and 5 I had three lumbar surgeries to fuse L2-L3-L4-L5-S1. Waiting to see when I’m recovered from that enough to get a cervical fusion done so I know when I can schedule the rotator cuff this winter. And I’m right-handed so that adds a whole new fun recovery issue to the mix given the pain killers don’t bind me up. So ya see Phil, it can always be worse! I’m sure some poor bastard is out there looking at all that and a knee replacement. Hoping to have all this stuff taken care off so I can ce back on the water next Spring. The good thing is I have Medicare and a good secondary insurance so cost to me is minimal.
Good luck Phil, hope it all works out. As my Italian grandfather used to say, “La vecchiaia è agonia.” “Old age is agony.” I prefer “the idea is too die young as late as possible “.

Take care Phil, I had mine done about 35 years ago and it's still doing OK. As an old buddy once told me this is your body's revenge for your mis-spent youth. I just went thru a cryo ablation of the prostate, if you goggle it please do so well before or after any planned meal. Hopefully it'll put that problem to rest.
