Any thoughts for a DIY fix, or do I need to bite the bullet and go to a professional?

I've (well actually my wife) has sewn the entire upholstery in my mastercraft. It's not fun, but it can be done. If you're not into sewing, I'd take it to a local shop. Make sure they know it is for extreme outdoor use so they can use a thread that can take it. I'm surprised it's not covered under warranty.

When the seams on my cooler seat cushion started doing that, I put a little 5200 where the thread was coming loose. I eventually had the cushion recovered but the patch job stopped the seams from opening further and lasted for a long time.
