Morning, I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers on how to free the free accelerator button on my 2004 Mercury 60hp 2 stroke bigfoot. I pushed the button in and started the engine to warm up. After the engine warmed up, I placed the controls back in neutral and it wont come back out. Which also prevents me from shifting to forward and reverse. I checked at the engine and the throttle moves but not the transmission. So I am certain it has to do with that button. I took the shifter arm off and tried to pull the plastic piece out but it wont move. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks and take care.

You might need to remove the shifter and take the back plate off where the control cables go in and try to free it off from there.

I have not tried that yet. I will try it this weekend and see if I can get it free. I will also update this post as soon as I can fix it.
