I'm starting to think it's time to shoot this forum and put it out of it's misery. It's been going down hill ever since the Sea Pro Facebook page started. I realize a lot of good information would be lost, but it can be found elsewhere.

That would be sad but I can't disagree, I have seen some new members asking some questions but they aren't getting any answers or opinions. I wouldn't say it's dead per se, it has definitely slowed down considerably.

That would be a shame but it has been pretty inactive lately. Would it make sense to disable the ability to create new posts but leave the forum up as a resource? There should be a setting that disables new posts, according to my quick search. You could also put a post up that explains that no new posts can be made but the forum is available for viewing. It doesn't cost anything to have the forum on Proboards, does it?
If you do decide to delete it, please give us a few weeks notice so we can copy out any info we want for personal reference. I'm retiring from my current job as of today and I have a bunch of boat projects I plan to do in the next couple months, so I'll be looking for tips on the forum.

Well I would hate to see it go. Lots of information. I don't have facebook and don't wanna get it lol
It has been hanging on by a thread the last year or so. If it is free doesn't seem like it hurts to have it up but not sure how all that works

Also I try to at least check it every couple of weeks or so however as for the few questions that went unanswered I saw but have no idea about the answers...

CertInly volume is lower, but there’s still value. I’d hate to see it go away. You and Phil (and Simple Man) know some stuff. So do a ton of other members. There’s a lot of value for those who inquire. If it doesn’t hurt, leave it.

I have only been on this site for 4 or 5 years. Kinda thought that the activity flowed with the boating season, slow in the winter and a bit more activity during the summer. I check in every day to see what's going on and what's new. Mostly looking for information that is usable to me and my Sea Pro. My input is limited due to my lack of knowledge of the mechanics on boats and motors, and I'm sure that others feel the same about giving any insight on most of the posts. I know on other boards that giving inadequate information on a problem can cause a large amount of ridicule that keeps people from participating, but that's not the case on this site. I'd hate to see it all disappear, I'd really miss Juan, Gen. Phil, Carbs and Phil and all of the others. You guys walked me through a few difficult times with my vessel and taught me more than you all will ever know. There must be a way to hang on another season and see what transpires. FaceBook can't be taking that much activity from us???

Yeah, I haven't checked in in a few weeks. I used to check in daily. It's not just this forum, it's every internet forum. Pretty much everyone now uses what is fastest to get to with their phones. None of those FB type boards have the type of info available that are on these forums, and the ads are relentless.
