Dear friends,
I'm looking at re-power my 2003 SeaPro 255 CC with a twin F200XA. They are V6 4 stroke. The motor itself is 623lb each. The boat itself is rated for 400HP max. The coast guard plate said " 10 PERSON OR 2200 LBS. 3950 LBS PERSONS, MOTOR & GEAR , 400 H.P. MOTOR" I have seen people put twin Inline 4 200s (489lbs each) on these 255CC. But these V6s are quite heavier than I4s. So we are talking about roughly 1246 lbs on the transom for motors. I wonder if anybody done this or seen this before? Will these motors be too heavy for my boat? Or is there a certain way to caculate the transom weight limitation ? Any type of help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

What do you have on it now?, I'd want to see the difference in weight between what's on it now compared to the V6 200's. I just went from a V6 200 2 stroke to a V6 250 4 stroke ( about 100lb difference) and the boat sits about 1/2 to 1 inch lower in the water.

You could always figure out the difference in weight from your current motors to the new ones, add that much dead weight with something like sand bags and see how the boat behaves. Try it before you buy as they say.
