Quick question for the group. Anyone with the older 2 stroke HPDI’s have any experience with replacing the anodes under the heads? There is one anode that is external and easy to get to on top of the the starboard heads, but there are 8 or 9 in the water jacket under the heads. Being a 2 stroke, the head removal/replacement is easier than it would be on a 4 stroke, but doing some googling doesn’t show much information on people actually replacing them. Yamaha says to replace them yearly, but if people actually did I would have expected to see more whining online. I’m guessing people might ignore them? While pulling the lower units to service the water pump and oil seals, the bolts were very hard to remove and I twisted the head off of one. I’m guessing the aluminum and stainless aren’t getting along. This has me concerned about what I might run into pulling the head bolts. The motors look great externally, and seem to have been well cared for, but looks can be deceiving.

I did pull the heads on my 200 HPDI and was surprised I didn't have any problems with the bolts. the anodes actually looked fine which was surprising given the age and hours on it. I didn't try to remove any of the anodes though.
